Madhat Kakei (b. 1954 in Kirkuk, Kurdistan) is a Swedish artist splitting his time between his studios in Stockholm, France and Japan. For decades, Kakei has developed a unique expression, painting layer upon layer of light and shadow, and creating a poetic universe that combines Western ideas of monochrome painting with entirely different abstract traditions.
