David Taylor | Deep State
The pieces shown in DEEP STATE are a tightly connected body of work made between April and October of 2020 and are part of David Taylor's exploration into the implications of single tasking. Working from a reducted material pallet Taylor uses repitition and the movement of scale to as tools in a process whose aim is to achieve total absorption, to become deeply focused.
DEEP STATE is a response to turbulent times in which a new skill sets have been acquired, we calculate proximity, we balance our feed. Entering his studio removes him from this, Taylors studio is his "panic room" and the work presented here could arguably be seen as a bi-product, the residual objects of his time spent there.
