Per Englund (b. 1981) is a Swedish photographer, born in Gothenburg, who lives and works in Stockholm. The focus of Englund’s practice is on the photo book. He made his debut, The Beautiful Struggle, in 2006 after five years of work in South Africa. Since then, he has published around fifteen titles, been awarded the Swedish Book Art Award by The Royal Library and trained as a printer in Tumba. Englund has also participated in exhibitions at, among others, Galleri Thomassen, Gothenburg, Galleri Steinsland Berliner, Stockholm, Arbetets Museum, Norrköping, Landskrona Fotofestival, Centrum för fotografi, Stockholm, Museum of Gothenburg, and Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm.
The works shown in the exhibition are part of a larger suite of images photographed with primitive pinhole cameras and extreme exposure times. The longest exposure to date lasted 370 days and was made with a home-made camera mounted on a bridge between Slussen and Gamla Stan in Stockholm.
